Stuck inside for the Blizzard? Here's a fun activity to show your snow-preciation, while staying warm and cozy inside :)
STEP 1: Paint canvas with blue and white tempera paint to make a snowy sky.
STEP 2: CUT shapes of snowy person and put to the side. You can pre-draw the shapes if that helps - a triangle hat, rounded rectangle body, arms and legs.
STEP 3: Mix your snowy paint! Equal parts white glue and shaving cream, and then mix in some glitter or as I call it in the studio, "fairy dust".
STEP 5: Place your pieces onto the canvas, burying the bottom of the legs in the snow so it looks like they are "in" it.
Your mixture has glue in it, so you don't need to glue down your pieces...just stick them right in the snow!
Draw a face, add some details like hair, snowflakes, glitter, and you're done!
A nice lesson on different colors of skin - put out a bunch of shades of brown, yellow, orange, and cream colored construction paper..have the kids pick out what color they want for their face!
When the faux snow dries, it feels soft and smooth!
